Starting in Kereru & Pekapeka

Kereru and Pekapeka are our new entrants classes. We understand that starting school for the first time is an important milestone in a child’s life. We also recognise the effect this event has on the whole family. We therefore take great care in working with parents and caregivers to make sure the transition into school is positive for everyone involved.

We offer a programme that values play and is in line with our local early childhood centres. Our aim is to develop learning dispositions in children so that they become effective, life-long, learners.

We highly recommend a few visits to our classrooms prior to your child actually starting school. During these visits, our new entrants teachers are able to answer any questions or concerns you might have about your child starting at Mt Cook School. Once you enrol your child the new entrants teachers will contact you to arrange a visit.

Come and meet us

We Look forward to meeting you. To arrange a time to visit please email us or ring the school office on 04 385 9432.
